Predominant ion boundaries are represented by lines. As such a Pourbaix diagram can be read much like a standard phase diagram with a different set of axes. Similarly to phase diagrams, they do not allow for reaction rate or kinetic effects. Beside potential and pH, the equilibrium concentrations are also dependent upon, e. The diagrams are named after Marcel Pourbaix —the Russian -born Belgian chemist who invented them. Pourbaix diagrams are also known as E H -pH diagrams due to the labeling of the two axes.
The vertical axis is labeled E H for the voltage potential with respect to the standard hydrogen electrode SHE as calculated by the Nernst equation.
The "H" stands for hydrogen, although other standards may be used, and they are for room temperature only. The lines in the Pourbaix diagram show the equilibrium conditions, that is, where the activities are equal, for the species on each side of that line.
On either side of the line, one form of the species will instead be said to be predominant. In order to draw the position of the lines with the Nernst equation, the activity of the chemical species at equilibrium must be defined. Usually, the activity of a species is approximated as equal to the concentration for soluble species or partial pressure for gases. The same values should be used for all species present in the system.
Sometimes additional lines are drawn for other concentrations. While such diagrams can be drawn for any chemical system, it is important to note that the addition of a metal binding agent ligand will often modify the diagram.
For instance, carbonate has a great effect upon the diagram for uranium. See diagrams at right. The presence of trace amounts of certain species such as chloride ions can also greatly affect the stability of certain species by destroying passivating layers.
In addition, changes in temperature and concentration of solvated ions in solution will shift the equilibrium lines in accordance with the Nernst equation. The diagrams also do not take kinetic effects into account, meaning that species shown as unstable might not react to any significant degree in practice. A simplified Pourbaix diagram indicates regions of "immunity", "corrosion" and "passivity", instead of the stable species.
They thus give a guide to the stability of a particular metal in a specific environment. Immunity means that the metal is not attacked, while corrosion shows that general attack will occur.
Passivation occurs when the metal forms a stable coating of an oxide or other salt on its surface, the best example being the relative stability of aluminium because of the alumina layer formed on its surface when exposed to air. For the simple case of a thermodynamic system consisting of a metal M and water, various reaction equations may be written having the form:.
The equation must be balanced for M, H, O and charge. A base-balanced equation can be converted to an acid-balanced equation using the equilibrium constant for the self-ionization of waterand only acid-balanced equations are considered below.A tree diagram template is quite a useful problem-solving tool. The diagram depicts a relationship, which often start with a central node, also known as the trunk.
The central node, in this case, is the idea you would like to analyze or the problem you intend to solve. The possible solutions are often divided into new branches, until the final answer or solution is reached. A free tree diagram template has many uses.
You may also like venn diagram templates. The template can be used for root cause analysis, product analysis and project workflow. The diagram template helps you to understand each problem or idea in an in-depth manner, making it possible to find the exact solution to the problem in question.

Sankey diagrams are an awesome way of visualizing the flow of data. They are particularly well suited for displaying decision trees.
Sankey diagrams are made up of three sets of elements: the nodes, the links and the instructions which determine their positions. Nodes are different groups or variables. Links are the line that connect the nodes together, and their size in terms of thickness is determined by the values associated with them. The instructions determine where the nodes appear in relations to each other.
It sounds complicated but is actually pretty simple. You can also customize your colors to flow from the first node or the last or by particular variables. You can also manually drag and drop if you want to change the positioning of the nodes and links. You can save and export your Sankey diagrams wherever you like. There is a whole world out there of awesome ways to visualize your data. Even better, combine different visualizations to create a truly impressive infographic or presentation.

Ready to create more stunning visualizations?Plot diagrams allow students to pick out major themes in the text, trace changes to major characters over the course of the narrative, and hone their analytic skills.
The concepts not only give students a fuller understanding of classroom texts, but also their favorite books and movies. The exposition is the introduction to a story, including the primary characters' names, setting, moodand time. The conflict is the primary problem that drives the plot of the story, often a main goal for the protagonist to achieve or overcome.
The rising action of the story is all of the events that lead to the eventual climax, including character development and events that create suspense.Palash tree uses
The climax is the most exciting point of the story, and is a turning point for the plot or goals of the main character. The falling action is everything that happens as a result of the climax, including wrapping-up of plot points, questions being answered, and character development. The resolution is not always happy, but it does complete the story. It can leave a reader with questions, answers, frustration, or satisfaction. Making storyboards that explain a plot bring students' understanding to life!
It's an engaging and fun way for students to interact with the texts they read in class. For narrative arcs for younger grades or other plot diagram templates, make sure to check out " Four Innovative Ways to Teach Parts of a Story ". Have students illustrate exposition, rising action, conflict, climax, falling action, and resolution, in a six-cell storyboard. As part of editing, have students diagram their own creative writing to find major plot points. Put an empty storyboard on an assessment, and require students to illustrate the plot points of a class text.
If you're looking for another step or an alternative assignment, you can create plot diagram worksheets to use in your class! These worksheets can be customized and printed out for students to fill out with a pencil, or they can be completed in the Storyboard Creator like a digital worksheet. You can even create multiple versions for those students who might need a little extra help, and keep them on hand for future use!
Find plenty of templates to work from or just start with a blank canvas. Within special education there are varying degrees of abilitiesincluding students who may have disabilities that have a minimal impact on their cognitive abilities. For the students that require minimal assistance, a blank plot diagram with very little or no information completed may be the way to go. As the creator of the storyboard, the teacher can control just what information is provided and decide how much he wants to guide his students.

It is able to calculate the reactions at supports for cantilever or simple beams. This includes calculating the reactions for a cantilever beam, which has a bending moment reaction as well as x,y reaction forces. The above steel beam span calculator is a versatile structural engineering tool used to calculate the bending moment in an aluminium, wood or steel beam. It can also be used as a beam load capacity calculator by using it as a bending stress or shear stress calculator.
It is able to accommodate up to 2 different concentrated point loads, 2 distributed loads and 2 moments. The distributed loads can be arranged so that they are uniformly distributed loads UDLtriangular distributed loads or trapezoidal distributed loads. All loads and moments can be of both upwards or downward direction in magnitude, which should be able to account for most common beam analysis situations.
Bending Moment and Shear Force calculations may take up to 10 seconds to appear and please note you will be directed to a new page with the reactions, shear force diagram and bending moment diagram of the beam. One of the most powerful functions is using it as a beam deflection calculator or beam displacement calculator.A Sankey diagram is a flow diagram, in which the width of arrows is proportional to the flow quantity.
Sankey diagrams visualize the contributions to a flow by defining source to represent the source node, target for the target node, value to set the flow volum, and label that shows the node name. This example also uses hovermode to enable multiple tooltips. Links and nodes have their own hovertemplate, in which link- or node-specific attributes can be displayed.
To add more data to links and nodes, it is possible to use the customdata attribute of link and nodesas in the following example. For more information about hovertemplate and customdata, please see the tutorial on hover text.

The notation has evolved from the work of Grady Booch, James Rumbaugh, Ivar Jacobson, and the Rational Software Corporation to be used for object-oriented design, but it has since been extended to cover a wider variety of software engineering projects.
UML 2. The key to making a UML diagram is connecting shapes that represent an object or class with other shapes to illustrate relationships and the flow of information and data. To learn more about creating UML diagrams:. The current UML standards call for 13 different types of diagrams: class, activity, object, use case, sequence, package, state, component, communication, composite structure, interaction overview, timing, and deployment. These diagrams are organized into two distinct groups: structural diagrams and behavioral or interaction diagrams.
They describe the static structure of a system. Learn more. Watch this short video about UML Class Diagrams Package Diagram Package diagrams are a subset of class diagrams, but developers sometimes treat them as a separate technique.
Package diagrams organize elements of a system into related groups to minimize dependencies between packages. Object Diagram Object diagrams describe the static structure of a system at a particular time.
They can be used to test class diagrams for accuracy. Composite Structure Diagram Composite structure diagrams show the internal part of a class. Use Case Diagram Use case diagrams model the functionality of a system using actors and use cases.
Activity Diagram Activity diagrams illustrate the dynamic nature of a system by modeling the flow of control from activity to activity. An activity represents an operation on some class in the system that results in a change in the state of the system.
Typically, activity diagrams are used to model workflow or business processes and internal operation. Sequence Diagram Sequence diagrams describe interactions among classes in terms of an exchange of messages over time.
Interaction Overview Diagram Interaction overview diagrams are a combination of activity and sequence diagrams. They model a sequence of actions and let you deconstruct more complex interactions into manageable occurrences. You should use the same notation on interaction overview diagrams that you would see on an activity diagram. Timing Diagram A timing diagram is a type of behavioral or interaction UML diagram that focuses on processes that take place during a specific period of time.

They're a special instance of a sequence diagram, except time is shown to increase from left to right instead of top down. Communication Diagram Communication diagrams model the interactions between objects in sequence.
They describe both the static structure and the dynamic behavior of a system.
In many ways, a communication diagram is a simplified version of a collaboration diagram introduced in UML 2. State Diagram Statechart diagramsnow known as state machine diagrams and state diagrams describe the dynamic behavior of a system in response to external stimuli. State diagrams are especially useful in modeling reactive objects whose states are triggered by specific events.
Component Diagram Component diagrams describe the organization of physical software components, including source code, run-time binary code, and executables. Deployment Diagram Deployment diagrams depict the physical resources in a system, including nodes, components, and connections. Class diagrams are perhaps one of the most common UML diagrams used and class diagram symbols center around defining attributes of a class.
For example, there are symbols for active classes and interfaces.
Block Diagram Software, View Examples and Templates
A class symbol can also be divided to show a class's operations, attributes, and responsibilities. Lines are also important symbols to denote relationships between components. Generalization and Inheritance are denoted with empty arrowheads. Composition is shown with a filled in diamond. Aggregation is shown with an empty diamond. Dependencies are marked with a dashed line with an arrow.
